ARCTIC BY ART

"Polar Views" is the tentative title of another exhibit of art, which can be seen at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. Viewers will explore the Arctic and Antarctic through works by contemporary artists. The interactive exhibition in the Museum's Art & Nature Center, highlights polar- regions as uniquely distinct biologically important systems that have been shaped over time by cyclical changes and increasingly, by human influences. Hands-on stations offer a range of exploratory opportunities for visitors of all ages to connect with themes and ideas presented in the artwork. This exhibit continues through June 2009.

"To the Ends of the Earth, Painting the Polar Landscape" features more than 40 paintings, sketched, and photographs by artists who journeyed to the Arctic and the Antarctic. This exhibit can be viewed through February 2009.

The Museum is located at East India Square, Salem, Massachusetts, 01970. Information: (866) 745-1876; fax (978) 745-7550; or www.pem.org.
