We have learned that the bell of the CSS Virginia, aka the USF Merrimack, which did battle with the Union ironclad Monitor, 8 March 1892, has been given to the National Museum of the United States Navy at Washington, DC, by Adrian Pearsal who is a collector of nautical antiques. Navy News Service added that it is unclear whether the bell was aboard the Confederate ship during the battle at Hampton Roads.
