Biden travels to Grand Canyon National Park to check on stimulus projects
Vice President Joe Biden is visiting the Grand Canyon to check on stimulus-funded projects that include the rehabilitation of historic trails and structures.
Biden was to deliver remarks later Tuesday morning at Hopi Point on the west end of the South Rim that overlooks a 5,000-foot drop to the Colorado River. It's the same place his boss stood last summer during a family visit to the iconic canyon.
Biden visited Yellowstone in Wyoming on Monday.
The White House says more than 1,000 people have worked on 17 stimulus-funded projects at Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon national parks. Some $25 million of the $862 billion stimulus went to construction and maintenance programs in the two parks, according to the White House.
