New terminal, welcome center and runway opening soon at Grand Canyon West Airport
A new terminal and welcome center will open next month at Grand Canyon West Airport with a new runaway expected to be in service by the end of this year.
Airport officials said Tuesday that the runway will be 5,000 feet long and 75 feet wide with adjacent helipads accommodating both fixed-wing planes and helicopters.
The new terminal and welcome center total nearly 2,000 square feet and will contain all guest services including concierge, ticketing, gift shop, air tour terminal, hop-on-hop-off shuttle station, espresso bar and cafe.
Grand Canyon West Airport began as a gravel air strip in the late 1980s serving air tours in fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters from Las Vegas.
